In support of Earth Hour 2010, staff at Mechanical & Electrical Contractors, APS, ditched their formal work wear & held a "wear it bright day". The event was held the day before the Word Wildlife Fund's earth hour 2010 where individuals & organisations all over the globe, in an effort to save co2 and draw attention to it's effect on global warming, switched their lights off for 1 hour on Saturday 27th March at 8.30pm. APS staff raised over £250 for the cause by making a donation to wear their own "bright" clothes for the day. Richard Basnett from the company said "APS recently gained ISO14001 accreditation in recognition of its efforts to reduce the environmental impact of it's operations, so supporting a cause like this is easy as it lies close to our core values in terms of the environment & sustainability. APS was formed in 1994 and carries out a wide range of mechanical & electrical services throughout the UK.

APS SUPPORTS EARTH HOUR 2010

APS is pleased to announce it is once again supporting Earth Hour. Earth hour is organised by the World Wildlife Fund, one of a number of charities APS have been long term supporters of. The aim this year is to get a billion people around the world to switch off their lights for one hour at 8.30pm on Saturday 27th March 2010. Not only will the resultant savings in co2 emissions contribute to the effort to keep world temperature rise below 2 degrees but attention will be drawn to the serious issue of global warming. All APS staff have pledged to take part and we invite as many others as possible to also do so.
